Abstract

For decades, Kaari Utrio (b. 1942) has been one of the most read authors in Finland. Now retired from her literary career, Utrio published her first historical novel in 1968. Since then, she has written more than thirty-five novels and also non-fictional books on the history of women, family, and everyday life. In thi interview, Utrio talks about her life and long career, her relationship with history, history research, and the popularisation of historical knowledge.
