This special issue examines the contemporary history of gender and societal influence in 1960s–1980s Finland. It explores a range of phenomena that have meaningfully shaped Finnish society and places an emphasis on political agency as well as social movements. The special issue is composed of an introduction, two research articles, two essays, and one interview. In this in-depth introduction, the editors cover the current state of the field and introduce the editorial processes that have made this special issue possible.
