In this article, I examine the 40th anniversary performance of the Finnish theatre company KOM-teatteri, titled KONE (2010). I analyse how the performance addressed the theatre’s own history: how the visual, aural and corporeal characteristics of both KOM-teatteri and the movement surrounding it at the time of its founding were reflected in the present moment of the performance. The research demonstrates that the performance approached the theatre’s history through two temporal directions: delving into the past and envisioning the future, thereby also highlighting developments that had already been realised.
