Lähihistoria (Finnish Journal of Contemporary History) is looking for articles for the first issue of 2026
Lähihistoria is now accepting articles meant for peer-review for the journal’s first issue of 2026. Articles on all topics and themes related to the journal’s focus on contemporary history are welcome. The articles can but do not have to focus on Finnish contemporary history.
The article schedule is as follows:
- Article proposals (max 400 words) should be submitted by 14th April 2025
- Invitations to submit a full paper will be sent to selected authors by 30th April 2025
- Article manuscripts are to be submitted by 1st December 2025.
Articles should aim to be 50 000 – 70 000 characters including spaces. Lähihistoria publishes content in Finnish and English. Manuscripts should be submitted via the Lähihistoria-journal’s online platform (https://lahihistoria.journal.fi/submissions)

Lähihistoria (Finnish Journal of Contemporary History) is an online, open access journal, which publishes articles, book reviews, review articles and essays on contemporary history from across the disciplines. Established in 2021, the journal covers a multifaceted range of perspectives related to contemporary history.
The journal is published by Lähihistorian tutkimuksen seura (Finnish Society of Contemporary History).
